For thirty years I felt your love from afar
Now I don’t even recognize who you are
I wish I didn’t know about the hate in your heart
Was it always there from the start
Always looking back
Glorify the past
Searching for yearning for
A life that never existed
Could you see past all of our differences then
Or have I always been too strange to understand
I’m still holding on after all these years
But I feel your love slowly disappear
Years of grief linger on
Waiting for relief to come
It’s not blood that binds us
But a slow death that ties us

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
Across their second full-length, the London post-punks offer up thrumming motoriks, industrial tones, and sullen sing-a-longs in abundance. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 17, 2024
